The current pool schedule for most pools across the city only open from 1 PM to 5 PM half of the days of the week, with the 7th day set aside for family swim nights when pools are open from 3 PM to 7 PM instead (these are awesome...we need more of these). This schedule makes it impossible for the children of working class parents to enjoy the facilities on a regular basis. In fact, I find myself questioning the logic of opening from 1-5 PM when the climate in Sacramento is almost perfectly suited to a 3-7 PM schedule anyway with the daytime temperatures peaking around 5:00 PM.
Shift the pool hours to a consistent 3-7 PM schedule and people may actually start showing up.
