Excited about this, crossing 99 on Fruitridge was the most scared I have been for my life while on a bike. It felt actively like it was build to kill me in that moment. I Think you should do the pedestrian forward road diet but put the trees in between the cars and the bike lane instead of in between the bike lane and the sidewalk. Basically the bike way version but with trees instead of pavement and plastic bollards. Trees are needed or people wont walk or bike. And the half road diet feels just silly. Like why even waste the time, it will have little effect on reducing vehicle miles traveled, wont reduce speeds, few people will use the bike lanes with 4 lanes of traffic and no trees. I get money is tight and many people don't understand induced demand but I would rather wait to get something that actually is functional than get a half measure that just means a mediocre street for the next few decades until it is redone again.
