I respectfully ask the Youth Commission to call up and publicly discuss the proposed Title 17 cannabis zoning changes. Removing protections for youth-serving spaces, parks, churches, residential mixed-use areas, and other sensitive uses puts vulnerable youth and families at risk.
Recent violent incidents tied to cannabis robberies, including a robbery that turned deadly involving a dispensary security guard, highlight the ongoing public health and safety concerns surrounding these businesses. Increased impaired driving and concentrated cannabis activity near youth spaces should not be ignored.
