I strongly urge the City of Sacramento to continue funding the Community Ambassador Program in the upcoming budget. This program plays a unique and essential role in connecting diverse communities with city resources, services, and information. For many residents — especially immigrants, refugees, non-English-speaking families, and underserved communities — Community Ambassadors are often the only trusted bridge between the City and the people it serves.
The Community Ambassador Program has demonstrated a significant positive impact throughout Sacramento by increasing civic engagement, improving access to city services, building trust in local government, and helping residents participate more fully in community activities. The program strengthens communication between the City and neighborhoods that are too often overlooked, ensuring that all residents have an opportunity to be informed, heard, and supported.
Importantly, this program delivers high value to the community while requiring relatively minimal funding compared to many other city initiatives.
At a time when the City prioritize funding allocations that directly benefit residents, funding the Community Ambassador Program is both cost-effective and impactful.
If budget reductions are necessary, the City should consider not hiring the Assistant City Managers instead of reducing support for community-based programs that directly serve residents.
Investing in the Community Ambassador Program is an investment in equity, inclusion, public trust, and stronger neighborhoods.
Sacramento is one of the most diverse cities in California, and programs like this are essential to ensuring that every community remains connected to local government and has equal access to resources and opportunities.
I respectfully ask the City Council to fully fund and preserve the Community Ambassador Program in the final budget. Thanks
Dear Mayor and City Councilmembers,
I want to express my concern about the proposed cuts to the Community Ambassador Program. As the Chinese Community Ambassador for the past few years, I have seen firsthand the positive impact this program has had in serving our community. We have been able to provide direct support, build trust, and connect vulnerable residents to essential services and resources. What is especially concerning is the budget priorities behind this decision. While the City continues to allocate funding for two vacant Assistant City Manager positions, programs that directly serve underserved communities are being reduced. This raises concerns about whether community-based needs are truly being prioritized.
I respectfully urge the Council to reconsider the reduction in funding for the Community Ambassador Program. Our communities deserve direct support, meaningful engagement, and equitable access to City resources.
Dear Mayor and City Council,
I write to oppose the proposed reduction in funding for the community ambassador program. I respectfully request that you restore this funding by utilizing funds from vacant positions. Community engagement is critical for residents to participate in their government and to help the city grown and develop into a world class city.
be prepared for the energy prices on which this budget is based to be too low

I am one of the Hmong Community Ambassadors this year and I am grateful for this program because I’ve been able to connect my family and friends with City resources. The program also encouraged me to brush up on my Hmong translation and interpreting skills and I’ve already passed my interpreting test, and pending my translation test. I strongly oppose cutting budgets to this program when we have two vacant city assistant manager positions that could be used to supplement.
