Please preserve funding for these youth programs. In the Sacramento/Natomas area, there are not many places for young people to spend their time, and youth are currently facing a significant mental health crisis. Programs like these provide safe, supportive spaces and valuable opportunities for professional development, community building, and workforce preparation.

These programs are essential to supporting our youth and investing in our future. I understand that the City of Sacramento is facing budget challenges and that some reductions may be necessary. However, I strongly urge you not to eliminate these programs.

Both of my children participated in the Young Leaders of Tomorrow program, and it was an amazing experience for them. They learned important professional skills, built confidence, and formed meaningful friendships. In addition, the program helped them open their first bank accounts, which was a powerful introduction to financial responsibility and independence.

Please continue to support and fund programs like this for our youth. They are critical for the well-being and future success of young people in our community and across Sacramento City.

My daughter participated in the YPCE Leadership Program and it gave her a fantastic overview of what is involved in being a leader. It taught her to work with others, to listen to and respect the opinions of people in a group, and most importantly, it really drove home the concept of integrity as well as several other necessary qualities in not only leadership, but human decency. We need these programs now more than ever, and starting kids on these concepts at a young age can only help the city of Sacramento. Please keep these programs going and creating more positivity for our future!

Please save funding for these programs. I have a 13 year daughter that has vast improvement in life and learning from this program in Oak Park. Her mental health and outlook on life has greatly improved and she enjoys participating daily.

Please protect funding for the Hart Senior Center staff and programs. The Hart Center is Sacramento's primary community hub for adults age 50 and over. Its provides essential programs that promote healthy aging, physical wellness, social connection, and lifelong learning for the City's senior population. These programs have generous support of volunteers, but they alone cannot replace the trained staff who ensure programs are operated safely and effectively. Please protect staffing, avoid reductions in operating hours or services, and ensure these senior care programs remain fully supported.

I am writing to express my deepest support and gratitude for Summer at City Hall and the Sacramento Youth Commission. My life was changed when I joined these spaces. I was able to meet women in leadership such as my council member for district 8, learning the importance of advocacy, higher education, and policy. Summer at city hall afforded me early career opportunities that have carried me to interning for a congressman in Washington DC. I am a first generation student, having the opportunity to be mentored by the staff who supported the youth commission has led me to be a student at a university, aspiring to give back to my community when I obtain a degree. Consider how many lives have been changed because of these programs, the trajectory of my life changed because the city invested in my future.

    我是一名特殊儿童的母亲。在我们最无助的时候,是这里给了我儿子欢笑。他很喜欢那里的工作人员,到了那里我感受到了真正关心和帮助!

I am writing to express support for continued funding for the Young Leaders of Tomorrow (YLOT) and Prime Time Teen (PTT) programs. Both of my sons have participated in these programs and found them extremely valuable and worthwhile. I understand that the City's financial situation means that tough decisions must be made. However, I urge the City Council to keep YLOT and PTT funded. These programs impart workforce development skills that kids and teens don't learn in school, and as such they are vital investments in our City's future. Please set your sights other places and leave these important YPCE programs intact.

    To: City Council and YPCE,

I am writing to express strong support for the Young Leaders of Tomorrow (YLOT) and Prime Time Teen programs serving the youth of Oak Park, Sacramento, California. These programs provide vital opportunities for children and adolescents in an underprivileged community to develop essential life skills, leadership abilities, and confidence as they prepare for their futures.

Oak Park is home to many bright and capable young people who simply need access to guidance, mentorship, and structured programs that nurture their potential; to include my own. My 13 year old Twins have completed The Young Leaders of Tomorrow and Prime Time Teen courses twice and it has played a critical role in polishing their social skills and community upbringing. Through these programs, youth are able to strengthen communication skills, build leadership qualities, develop teamwork, and gain exposure to the expectations of the workforce and higher education.

Children in underserved communities often face barriers that limit their access to positive extracurricular opportunities. Programs like these provide a safe and supportive environment where teens can learn responsibility, accountability, and goal-setting. Participants are encouraged to discover their strengths, sharpen their decision-making skills, and build a sense of purpose that will carry into adulthood.

While we understand that budget constraints affect organizations everywhere, cutting youth development programs would have a long-term negative impact on the very communities that need them the most. Investing in youth is not simply an expense—it is a commitment to building stronger families, safer neighborhoods, and a more prepared future workforce.

The fundamentals taught in the Young Leaders of Tomorrow and Prime Time Teen programs are essential to shaping responsible, capable young adults. These initiatives influence students at a pivotal stage in their lives and provide the guidance necessary to help them succeed academically, socially, and professionally.

For the youth of Oak Park, these programs represent opportunity, mentorship, and hope. I respectfully encourage continued support and investment in these courses so that the young people of this community can continue to benefit from the life-changing impact they provide.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

    Sincerely,

    Nyiesha Hewitt

I’m opposed to the proposed budget context and reduction strategies affecting Youth, Parks, and Community Enrichment; Community Development; Finance; Human Resources; Information Technology; Utilities; and Public Works.

I understand the need to balance the budget, but these departments provide essential services that directly impact residents’ quality of life. Programs for youth, parks, and community enrichment are important for keeping young people engaged and supporting healthy neighborhoods. Reductions to Community Development could slow housing and economic progress, and cuts to core operational departments like Utilities and Public Works risk affecting basic services and infrastructure.

I encourage the City to look for alternatives that protect these critical programs and services instead of reducing them.

I am requesting that this program stays funded. My child was a participant in the primetime teen program. She came home daily excited about what she learned and the skills that she could use to take into the workforce. This program helped her have a better understanding about what’s required in order to succeed in the workplace environment. Without this program, children would be missing out on the opportunity to learn these life skills necessary for their success in adulthood. I am in support of keeping this program, running to its full capacity and funded to support the growth and development of children and teens in our community. These are our future leaders of the world.

As a person who has been in Prime Time Teen twice, I find it such a valuable program. It is a jump start for youth to get jobs. But if someone like me has strict parents, then that can't be possible. We rely on these programs to get essential information as well as stipends which could help us save up for the future. During times of financial instability and difficulty of finding jobs, these programs really come in handy. I, personally come from a household where money is tight. But, by attending programs with stipends, I got to save up for college which is important for a brighter future. So, please, programs with stipends is important and should be kept. Thank you.
