South Sacramento is already a resource-strained community. We have fewer grocery stores, fewer healthcare facilities, and long-standing infrastructure deficits compared to other parts of the city.
The issue is not the people experiencing homelessness. They deserve support and stability. The issue is the concentration of multiple homeless sites in the same neighborhoods without proportional investment in infrastructure, services, and economic development.
Equity means shared responsibility across districts. If three additional sites are being proposed here, where are the equivalent sites in more affluent neighborhoods? What parallel investments are being made in South Sacramento to strengthen this community rather than simply adding to its burden?
Support services must be paired with measurable infrastructure commitments — sanitation, safety, mental health resources, and community benefit investments. Without that, this is not balanced policy. It’s uneven distribution.
We are asking for fairness, transparency, and shared accountability.
