I am writing as a resident of the Natomas Crossing neighborhood to express serious concerns regarding two proposed development projects:
    • 3600 Airport Road – 32 residential dwellings
    • 3590 Airport Road – a three-story, 70-unit residential building with only 65 parking spaces

Our neighborhood is made up of one and two-story, single-family homes. A three-story, high-density apartment building is out of scale with the existing character of the area and would dramatically alter the neighborhood. The proposed height at 3590 Airport Road is excessive for this location and does not align with the surrounding development.

In addition, the parking plan is insufficient. A 70-unit building with only 65 parking spaces will inevitably push residents and visitors onto surrounding streets and into the Tanzanite park parking lot, which are not designed to accommodate overflow parking. This will negatively impact existing residents and further reduce safety and accessibility.

Most concerning is the traffic and safety impact. Airport Road is a one-way street with no sidewalks that is already dangerous. Drivers frequently travel the wrong direction and at excessive speeds. Adding dozens of new residences will significantly increase traffic on a roadway that is already unsafe for pedestrians, cyclists, and residents. The increased volume and congestion raise serious safety concerns for the entire neighborhood.

Given the abundance of available open land in the Natomas area, increasing density by adding hundreds of new residents to this neighborhood is unnecessary and would degrade the livability of the community. I respectfully ask that you oppose or reconsider these projects in their current form, particularly the height, density, parking limitations, and traffic implications. Any development in this area should be scaled appropriately, prioritize safety, and reflect the character of the existing neighborhood. We do not want this well-maintained, stable neighborhood to be fundamentally altered in a way that diminishes its safety, character, and quality of life.

Thank you for your time and for representing the concerns of your constituents. I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss this further or to be informed of any upcoming hearings or meetings related to these proposals.
