Julie Virga has very publicly opposed everything about Front Street even though its statistics and protocols are very much the same, if not better than other California shelters. I don’t even understand the harsh emotional public statements when Front Street follows guidelines developed by a panel of I believe 19 experts in the field to address overcrowding in shelters in California and across the country.
This is a societal problem that shelters are trying to accommodate with budgets that aren’t nearly enough.
I have listened to so many uncivil Commissioner meetings prior to the attorney stepping in and explaining proper conduct mostly lead by Ms Virga and Fix Front Street members that Ms Virga spearheads. I’m afraid this will lead to very uncivil Commission meetings without facts to back up claims.
Why would you put Julie Virga on the commission, after she has spent years attacking Front Street??? She already has her own group where she can complain. Put people on who will add value, not harm. Why on earth would you think this is a good idea?????
To City of Sacramento Council members:
Regarding the appointment of Julie Virga to the animal well-being commission, I would hope the council takes a closer look at the candidate. As a 35 year city employee and a volunteer at Animal Control on Front Street for approximately 13 years I’ve had experienced many negative instances with Julie and her Fix Front Street organization. I have read published stories where Front Street employees were identified by name and slandered in order for Julie to try to further her cause to make a point against Front Street. I have witnessed her protesting during our volunteer appreciation luncheon just to disrupt and intimidate volunteers who attended. I have volunteered since 2013 and I have yet to see Julie dedicate 15 minutes in volunteer work or other support that front Street needs. My feeling is that Julie will continue this behaviorregardless of who it hurts or who it affects and for this reason, I think her name ought to be closely scrutinized prior to consideringher for the board of the animal well-being commission. Responsibility I think having her on the board would be disruptive to say the least. In my many years of volunteering at Front Street I have come to realize the employees who dedicate themselves to work there are some of the most compassionate and loyal employees the city has and to have Julie in any position as to impact the work they do would be detrimental to the operation of Animal Care. Thank you for considering my comments and please note these are strictly my comments based on my opinions and my experiences and should not be construed as representing anybody else.
