I am not sure why this was even put on the agenda as there was no information provided for the public to comment on. And the 3 sentence background information is factually inaccurate. The former manager, Gina Knepp, jiggered workload and staff hours to make being open to the public work. So disheartening the shelter’s lack of transparency in these public matters.
Closing the shelter for any amount of time results in many more loose dogs on our streets. We have an epidemic of dumped dogs and closing the shelter doesn’t help that. Good Samaritans are constantly securing loose dogs and with nowhere to take them most of those dogs will be left loose and in danger or a danger to citizens.
