Recognizing Sikhs and creating awareness with out the acknowledgment of the 1984 Sikh genocide at the behest of Indira Ghandi and India is counter productive to creating awareness and recognizing Sikhs. It is mitigating creating awareness and recognizing Sikhs when the genocide of 1984 and the hates crimes commited by India and right wing extremists that subjugate Sikhs are what we are trying to bring awareness to and continue to this day. Please consider recognizing the genocide of 1984 of Sikhs, it is the very forefront of our religion to recognize those who have lost their lives for Sikhi due to religious and political intolerance since the 5th Guru of Sikhs, not recognizing the genocide would be a disservice to Sikhs and those who lost their lives and it would not be recognizing or bringing awareness to Sikhs completely, in fact it would be a washed down version of recognizing and bringing awareness to what Sikhs really have endured and an appropriation of what Sikhi really is.
