    Dear Mayor, Council, and Staff,

On behalf of the Downtown Sacramento Partnership and the 66 blocks we represent in the heart of Sacramento, I am writing in support of this item.

The Downtown Sacramento Partnership's mission is to build value downtown. One way we do this is by activating our open spaces and parks with elements and activities that surprise and delight. Downtown is everyone's neighborhood, and we aim to build comfortable spaces to be enjoyed by all who live in, work in, and visit downtown.

We are grateful to city staff, District 4 Council Member Valenzuela and her office, and Assembly Member McCarty and his office who made it possible for the Downtown Partnership to carry out our mission. With the additional support from this grant funding, we're thrilled to build upon our work to enhance our community's livability and ensure our public realm stays vibrant and welcoming.

We're doing this through four main tenets, also available in the attached document: activating artistic lighting installations and gallery spaces in underutilized corridors, collaborating with our community partners to produce live music and artistic performances open to the public, supporting public realm programming to create pedestrian connections between downtown's amenities, and investing in placemaking infrastructure to create comfortable public spaces for our community.

Opportunities like these allow for our organization to create activations that reflect what our community envisions for the future of downtown -- a comfortable, safe, and livable neighborhood with something for everyone.

    Thank you,

    Michael Ault
    Executive Director
