Our entire household strongly supports this project and we hope that it will be marked as a top priority for the city. The Northgate Corridor is very busy filled with commuters each day. It's also a dangerous road for bicyclists and pedestrians and even vehicles. I hope that funding can happen quickly through Federal, State and Local Government grants. We would like to see the plan implemented soon and hopefully in less than 3 years!
Greetings from a Gardenland Northgate community member!
I am excited that the Northgate Boulevard Transportation Plan is FINALLY up for approval and look forward to the proposed changes in my neighborhood. Northgate Blvd is a super busy dangerous commercial corridor that bisects one of Sacramento's older neighborhoods. This plan will finally bring a sense of cohesion to both sides of the boulevard, help our many small businesses and enable us to shop, walk, bike and travel more safely and connect with each other. It should reduce vehicle emissions which will also be better for our health. It will help us create a vibrant walkable place we can enjoy.
We are celebrating a small win this month- we have a brand new stoplight at the intersection of Northgate and Sotano! Already people are noticing that traffic has slowed a little.
I'd like to express my gratitude to Jeff Harris, his staff (and the rest of the council) for pushing the stoplight project to completion in the midst of a global pandemic that created major supply chain issues. Now we are looking forward to working with Council Member Talamantes to continue the progress we are making in our neighborhood. These are exciting times!
I live in the Gardenland Northgate area. As noted in the report, Northgate Blvd is one of the top Vision Zero locations. As a person who regularly walks in the neighborhood, I can attest to the dangers of just trying to cross the street. A pedestrian/bicycle cross light is needed between West El Camino and Jefferson/Garden Highway along with better bike lanes. Northgate is designed for car usage, not for walkers and bicyclist. The Northgate Mobility Plan would allow for a variety of transportation options and this would result in safer streets and cleaner air. Thank you.

This is a great plan for a very dangerous corridor. I encourage Council to adopt this plan as proposed.
