We need more affordable housing, emergency shelters, and transitional housing for Sacramento County residents. I work in housing services and sometimes the waitlists for affordable housing are 3 to 5 years long and the shelter waitlists are months long. Housing is a human right and Council Member Vang has an excellent plan on how to help those experiencing homelessness and support our community members so they don't have to struggle without access to basic needs.

I support Council-member Vang's proposal for providing increased transitional housing options for our neighbors experiencing homeless, especially youth and families. I work with underserved youth experiencing homelessness, as they navigate connections to employment and education, and have seen first-hand the significant impact having wrap-around services makes on youth and young families attaining long-term success in work, education, mental health and housing stability. In completing my graduate work (M.Ed.), I learned the vital importance of providing support services for students to be successful, and it has been my experience that transitional housing provides just that to our neighbors! Council-member Vang has brought a proactive view to addressing the difficulties experienced by our underserved neighbors, and I am hopeful that other districts - like mine, in District 5 - will adopt similar strategies, and soon!

I'm a homelessness provider living in District 4. I've been grateful to Valenzuela's leadership in bringing forward strong plans and solutions to support our neighbors experiencing homelessness. I am in strong support of Vang’s plan to support our neighbors who are unhoused and have been impressed with efforts to seek expertise in her district to inform recommendations. We are witnessing momentum like we've never seen; creating options such as transitional housing, hotel assistance, and safe grounds are lifesaving interventions that uplift our entire Sacramento community as it allows for our most vulnerable neighbors to stabilize as they connect to wellness, jobs, childcares, school, and other supports. Well run transitional housing is service rich and often serves the "invisible" folks experiencing homelessness before bridging to long-term housing. It is in the council's best interest to not only approve of Vang's plan, but to create similar initiatives in their own districts.

    Hello,
My name is Katrina Lund and I am a resident of District 5. I support Councilmember Vang’s draft Homelessness plan to support our unhoused neighbors and I demand safe ground be opened in my district! The establishment of safe ground is crucial to ensure the health and wellbeing of our unhoused neighbors. As a Master of Social Work with a specialization in systemic/Macro-scale issues, I know that transitional housing is a CRUCIAL first step to addressing the homelessness crisis. I believe Councilmember Vang's proposal should be a priority for the City of Sacramento. Please protect our community and take action NOW! PLEASE adopt Councilmember Vang's Master Plan and bring safe grounds to my district!

I work with youth experiencing homelessness and fully support Councilmember Vang’s draft Homelessness plan to support our unhoused neighbors. While progress has been made in our community, we need to see an increase in housing and support services in District 8. It is critical that we remain vigilant to ensure the needs of TAY and families by offering MORE transitional housing options for families to support stability and ensure they can pursue school and/or employment with childcare and break the cycle of homelessness and poverty.

I fully support Safe ground in district 8 because it ensures we our community members experiencing homelessness and often are living in hidden sites, so they can connect to the services, health care and next step housing they desperately need.

There needs to be some kind of solution here in my district as i do a exercise walk daily and visit several of these camp sites and have a discussion with some of these folks and to find out a large percentage of them hold jobs from construction to warehouse jobs at amazon but just cant qualify to get an apartment, i challenge each council member to go and sit down with these people were they call home and break bread with them as i do on several occassions at night and during the day and i am not even a nonprofit ...as i write this me and a couple business owners are going to a camp in dist 8 no media no photo op"s e.t.c.
