I am also interested in having the Active Transportation Commission encourage the City to spend CARES Act funding to support Slow and Active Streets in neighborhoods who clearly spoke up for them. In addition, SABA and our partners at WALKSacramento agreed with the city that this pilot program would not well serve the communities it was targeting. Instead, how can the City serve those communities and what role does the ACT have in moving a stronger engagement process forward to understand the needs and interests of Sacramento's disadvantaged communities?

I am Vice-Chair of the Midtown Neighborhood Association (MNA). MNA membership was dismayed to hear the City will not move forward with creating an east/west and a north/south slow street in the Midtown neighborhood. Midtown is the densest neighborhood in the City of Sacramento, and therefore vulnerable to the spread of COVID-19. We need the ability to safely distance while maintaining some sense of community. Part of the $100m dollars from the federal government should be used to create an east/west and a north/south slow street in Midtown. If the City is not open to spending money on this, how can the neighborhood association be best activated to support a low-cost alternative? Furthermore, as people head back to work, researchers expect there to be a reduction in transit ridership. Sacramento needs to do its part to keep carbon emissions down and creating safe thoroughfares for bicycling and walking is a good strategy for that. Please reconsider slow streets. Thank you.

Part of the $100m dollars from the federal government should be used to create an east/west and north/south slow street in Midtown, and several mini Plaza's. Suggest 20th street, K Street, and O Street as examples.

Please agendize for the July meeting an update and discussion on bike share and scooter share. It appears that the city and other partners are just waiting to see what Lime will do rather that taking action to ensure a return of a system with strong public control, and integration with transit.
