My name is Courtney Williams and my message is for Council Member Jay Schenirer. I have contacted your office twice regarding movement on an infrastructure sidewalk issue. The city arborist and department of forestry have stated they will not remove a tree that has caused destructive damage twice over a ten-year period to 15 feet of concrete that had to be replaced because it is protected. However, the protected status does not rule does not mandate that protected trees can not be removed due to infrastructural issues.
City staff, they are electing to only remove tree roots while providing no technical reporting or information, about the size of the roots being cut and degree of lost integrity from the removal of roots, resistance to delta winds, or security that the loss of root strength won't lead to the tree collapsing. I am simply requesting that the tree be permitted for removal along with the tree roots and a less invasive tree is installed. I'm awaiting your response. Thank you
