As executive director of Sacramento Loaves & Fishes, I strongly support applying for and utilizing HHAP funds to help men, women, and children experiencing homelessness.
I strongly support the proposal submitted by the Homeless Environmental Justice Alliance - an alliance of homeless organizations; environmental organizations; interfaith community; labor; neighborhood associations and business improvement districts - calling on the city, county and COC to use HHAP funds to fund 4 common sense solutions to homeless sanitation issues: fix the bathrooms in our parks; a mobile bathroom and shower program; hand sanitizing stations and trash pick up at homeless encampments - Homeless Sanitation Employment Program (with jobs for homeless). I think it is critical to provide and maintain portal bathrooms at all homeless encampment sites using the programs highlighted by the HEJA in their proposal.
WE WANT A TOTAL OF $3 MILLION - 11% OF THE HHAP FUNDS [$2 m from city, $500,000 from county and $500,000 from COC] T0 GO TOWARDS OUR RECOMMENDATION:
