Greetings Councilmembers,
Concerning item #9-Grant: California Bureau of Cannabis Control Local Equity Grant Funding Program to remove it from consent for discussion.
As a CORE applicant and GSUL-SGE cohort a reimbursement program would directly and negatively impact our opportunity to gain equity in the cannabis business. It contradicts the effort if we must be low-income to qualify, but then must also have $25k upfront, which would not make us low-income if we had that available in assets or otherwise. This also taints the essence of fairness, if we still must go through an application process, panal interview, classes and workshops to end up not being trusted with the funds. We believe that by going through this CORE curriculum and process that we would be able to prove our commitment and drive; ability to thrive as entrepreneurs; and be held to a higher standard and treated as such.
Thank you & Continued Success,
