    The Sacramento Housing Alliance urges Council support for Consent Item 11 amending Section 5.156.050 of the city code regarding annual rent adjustments. This will conform the City’s standards for rent increases under the Tenant Protection Act of 2019 with AB 1482 signed into law by the Governor last year. It is also important that the provisions be adopted as an urgency measure to avoid any conflicts or confusion. This revision will reduce allowable rent increases to the State standard of 5% and will conform the standard for calculating CPI to the State index.
    These revisions will provide important relief to tenants who are burdened by excessive housing costs while the City continues to work to provide significantly more resources to build more regulated affordable homes. Thank you, Cathy Creswell, SHA Board President
