While it's a positive to see this resolution on the agenda, it's critical that Sacramento aim for carbon neutrality by 2030, NOT 2045 as is currently stated in the resolution. The IPCC report states that we need to keep global warming below 1.5 Celsius to stop unprecedented loss of species and catastrophic weather events such as heatwaves, flooding, and drought. The Union of Concerned Scientists predicts that Sacramento will begin to experience days with a heat index as high as 127 degrees Fahrenheit by 2036. We cannot wait until 2045, bold action needs to be taken now.

Support declaring Climate Emergency and put urgency on actions to reduce GHG. We should be aiming for 100% clean energy goal before 2045.
