23. Ordinance Amending City’s Fee and Charge Report for Recycling and Solid Waste Utility Service Rates [Passed for Publication 10/22/2019; Noticed 10/11/2019 & 10/15/2019; Published 10/25/2019] {Continued from 11/05/2019} File ID: 2019-01376
In reference to my opposition letter dated 13 July, 2019, I continue to oppose the actions described in this measure for the same reasons previously stated:
1) Measure U and other recent tax increases implemented in Sacramento are intended to bolster the city's overall balance sheet and improve public services. Additional taxes and fee increases should not be necessary in my opinion.
2) The quality of services provided in relation to the cost is already out of proportion. I do not foresee that this increase will result in better service, just higher fees.
3) It is not incumbent on the residents of the city to "bail out" the council for falling victim to unfavorable labor contracts, poor policy out of Washington DC, or fuel price increases. In fact on the latter, the electorate is already absorbing the same thanks to SB1.
