36. City Council Discussion Regarding Additional Homeless Shelter Proposal Options and Update on Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency’s Proposed Homeless Services Five-Point Plan File ID: 2019-01471
The Sacramento Housing Alliance is supportive of further research on all of the items in the 5-point plan because ending homelessness is going to require a variety of strategies as well as consistent support and effort by the City. However, these strategies should only be considered as "additional" strategies and should not replace the existing investments already committed to by the Council. The strategies should be additive and not in lieu of proposals currently underway. And finally, building and investing in more permanent supportive housing and permanent affordable rental housing is the best and most effective long term solution to ending homelessness.
