I object to the proposal to seize private property by eminent domain for a bike path to nowhere. The path does not connect to downtown, and the Pocket neighborhood is already filled with parks and and bike paths; it violates the public trust to raise taxes to fund this pork project. The budget should focus on homelessness, underserved neighborhoods, and traffic congestion. The levy bike path creates a safety risk for me and invades my privacy. From the levy, walkers and bikers will be able to peer down into nearly every room in my house. Opening my yard to the public invites crime and the homeless, who already reside along City-maintained bike paths. As a biker I've seen trash, homelessness, and a fire while on bike paths. Use the funds to improve the safety of the bike paths already developed (like around Discovery Park) and do not seize my property to create more social issues. Finally, the disparate treatment of the Little Pocket is abhorrent display of political juice.

Please vote "aye" for all budget measures enhancing our City branches of the Sacramento Public Library. Our libraries are vital community assets and deserve all the funding that the City can afford. Thank you.

This budget has excluded input from most of the taxpayers in this city. "Priorities" for spending are defined by the few, with virtually no deliberation or consideration as to effectiveness. There is no urgency to spend this money. Please consider taking the time to have an open and deliberative process that includes all the taxpayers in this city.
