I am writing to request you work with the various levels of our government - city, county, and state - to develop a true plan for the development of housing for all income levels, but most importantly, for those with low income needing affordable housing options. There needs to be an open assessment of the various regulatory policies that guide developers towards the creation of luxury housing, instead of the creation of multi-family units that would better serve the expanding Sacramento population and those that are unable to secure housing. Our housing crisis is impacting all aspects of day to day life, and a plan forward must be created. I had wanted to share these thoughts at the earlier meeting, but found that there were so many others that were coming out to advocate for affordable housing, I felt it important that I voice the need for collaboration of the multiple tiers of government to develop a plan forward.
