I'm writing to express my opposition to the proposed ban on flavored tobacco products. This proposal is an example of government over-regulation that would negatively impact the choices of law-abiding consumers. The point of this proposal is to reduce the exposure of tobacco products to minors. In 2016, CA raised the legal age to purchase tobacco products from 18 to 21. Why not focus on measures to enforce the existing legal age law instead of a proposal that will limit the choices of adult consumers. CA already eliminated the ability of adults ages 18-20 to purchase tobacco, and now this proposal seeks to further increase tobacco restrictions. Additionally, this proposal will negatively affect local tobacco businesses that already compete with online retailers, which is exactly where consumers (including minors) will turn to if this proposal is enacted. Thank you for your time and service to Sacramento.
