I urge the Sacramento City Council to work towards protection for renters. Rent prices are sky rocketing in Sacramento, and are becoming comparable with the Bay Area without the high wages. Please support working families who are working toward the american dream of owning their own home. With excessively high rent and child care costs, families are unable to save any money to purchase a house.
If the City Council feels that rent control is not the answer, then do something. If protecting families is out of the question because you fear property managers and owners will cry "government over regulation" and you want another idea to fix the issue, then I ask you to implement an income tax that is solely applied to those who work in the Bay Area and live in Sacramento. The Bay Area wages are inflating the Sacramento housing market. That way you can take it out on other working families, because I doubt the City Council will take on developers and property managers.
