Hello, I am commenting in opposition of the proposed STR changes:
1. Prohibits operation of a STR in a secondary dwelling unit wherein the main dwelling unit
is not the permittee’s primary residence,
2. Limits one STR permit per parcel.
I own and operate a permitted STR in the city of Sacramento. My property contains two dwellings that meets residential building codes.
If the city wishes to to police and regulate the number of guest that stay on the property, this code change does not provide a true solution. STR are not using secondary dwellings to hide the number of guest from neighbors, they are using the spaces to accomodate their guest needs and also provide access for special considerations. If the secondary dwellings are deemed appropriate for long term rentals, then it would be logical that they are also appropriate for STR.
Located close to nearby hospitals, our 2nd dwelling is ADA accessible and allows access to guest with limited mobility to stay in our home.
