I am a Science Center volunteer and supporter of all the incredible opportunities the Science Center provides for students and adults all over the Sacramento area to explore science. The Power House Science Center has encouraged me to pursue a career in Aerospace Engineering after I graduate and has truly made a positive impact on my life. I urge you to vote in support or the Power House Science Center so that we can continue to inspire students in our area to pursue careers in STEM so that they can fill the jobs of tomorrow and make a positive impact in the development of our communities. As a 6-year Docent at the California State Railroad Museum, I oppose the City's financial support of this project. There already exist many museums that are in dire need of additional funding. As an example, the Railroad Museum's Historic Passenger and Freight Depots are in desperate need of re-roofing. Also, plans for expansion of the Museum into the railyards by creating a Technology Museum in the historic Shops could be a significant attraction and play a big part in the redevelopment of the Railyards property. Unfortunately, significant funding is needed to make these things possible.
Please do not neglect current museums that need funding by spending city money on an entirely new project.
