    Smokefree Multi-Unit Housing
In support of the message I sent to the Mayor and Council on March 20, I attached 3 documents from the American Lung Association of CA: Local CA Smokefree Housing Policies--a 2015 analysis, Survey of CA Apartment Owners and Managers About Smokefree Multi-Unit Housing Laws 2005, and Survey of CA Renters About Smokefree Multi-Unit Housing Laws 2004. The documents can be found at http://center4tobaccopolicy.org/tobacco-policy/smokefree-multi-unit-housing/, along with much more helpful information. Where I live, smoke from apartments drifts into enclosed hallways, and smoking in the courtyard drifts into apartment windows--the 20-foot distance rule isn't adequate. Polls show that owners, managers, and renters support restrictions on smoking. The City of Calabasas smoking ban that I mentioned in my first message is probably not adequate. Please pass mandatory restrictions for multi-unit housing, as you have done for stores, theaters, hallways, etc.
