I strongly support listing the Land Park Bowl as a Landmark on the Sacramento Register of Historic and Cultural Resources. This is an example of where it is not just about the building itself but about the cultural history of the place and its contributions to our community. This is worth preserving.

I am writing to request that the City of Sacramento save the AMF Land Park Lanes Bowling Alley by placing it on the local historic register thereby preventing its demolition. The Lanes building is notable for both its cultural and its mid-century modern architecture. The roof and sculptures are both remarkable examples of mid-century architecture and design. This building adds historic value and character to the neighborhood. This is the last operating bowling alley in city limits. In recent years, the City has given a lot of lip service to prioritizing the preservation of Sacramento’s historic places. This is an opportunity for the City to actually demonstrate its commitment to preservation. Please listen to the community and add the AMF Land Park Lanes to the local historic register.
This would help revitalize Freeport blvd so easily. There are SO many families in south land park, pocket, Curtis park, land park, east sac that will be so thrilled to have this beautiful old beautiful brought back to life. The community of Freeport manor would instantly see a facelift which is desperately needed. Please bring back the bowling alley!!!
